Activity: Create a Fairy

Activity: Create a Fairy
Costume designers have to come up with a unique design for each costume in a show so that the audience doesn’t get confused between characters. The first step in the design process is costume sketches. These are rough drawings that illustrate the basic design of the costume and any special details of the costume or makeup, like tattoos or patterns on clothing.
In A Midsummer Night’s Dream, there are three main fairies and four other fairies. Each of them has to be different. Choose one of the fairies and draw a picture of a costume that would make sure that your fairy wouldn’t be confused with any others. Remember to include details that make the costume unique.
The Fairies:
- Titania, Queen of the Fairies
- Oberon, King of the Fairies
- Puck, Oberon’s second-in-command
- Peaseblossom, one of Titania’s fairies
- Moth, one of Titania’s fairies
- Cobweb, one of Titania’s fairies
- Mustardseed, one of Titania’s fairies
