Mythology: Cupid is the son of Venus in Roman mythology. He is most commonly portrayed as a young boy with wings and a bow and arrows. A shot from Cupid's arrows would supposedly plunge the target into passionate love. Cupid was usually portrayed as blindfolded, a comment on the fact that love does not use sense, but the heart.
